Oh, what a beautiful piece and essay. This right here shows what kind of human being you are: “Courageous linemen from out of town, came to assist us. I can’t help wondering how their families were doing without them.”

I’m so glad your power has been restored, and I mean that in more ways than one. In a dark time, again in more ways than one, you are finding your light and energy within and also all around you, receiving from community. Allowing ourselves to receive is one of the greatest gifts.

As you know, I have been processing grief on several levels for the last six months, and there are days when I wake up and think “oy vey, another day.” And I feel lonely and uncertain. Tired.

Then I remember to take breaths of gratitude. I place my hand or hands over my heart chakra and just breathe for a while … and then I think of at least three things I’m grateful for.

Today my list included you specifically. 💋And my family as a whole. My kids. Friends silver & gold. And my puppy. My home. My bed. The power of words & the fact that my hooray!-it’s-published poetry book is touching people that I don’t even know.

And I gave thanks for the capacity to feel grateful. 🙏❤️🙏

One last thing: In the midst of all, that you baked a quiche!!!? I find that very impressive. And I do also find baking and cooking very therapeutic.

Thanks, Sage. Power restored, more ways than one! Love you, my sister-niece.
