March 14 Forever
Remembering and Sharing
The Sun and Moon rise and set, sharing the sky this early morning, even on the memorial of the worst day of my life. THE DAY, three years ago, that I got THE CALL.
March 14, 2023, the text from my son’s dad…’is this still your phone number?’ WTF. Total panic.
Before I could respond, an unknown number from the Statesboro police department rang on my phone.
I answer… I interrupt his attempts at being ‘kind’ and instruct him; just tell me…is my son dead?
Yes ma’am.
I shout, I cannot talk to you now. I will call you back.
I hang up. I scream so loud, the violent sound cracked open the Universe. And, literally, damaged my vocal cords.
March 14, 2026, the journey that never ends. A forever steep climb down. A bottomless cliff into the core of my earthen limited life. A forever rope climbing ascent reaching to understand the mystery that can only be explored outside of the mind with those who are also struggling for solid footing.
So here I stand on my porch this day, watching the moon set in the south and the sun rise in the east. And I recognize beauty and choose to share this moment with all of you. Even on the three year anniversary of the DAY I GOT THE CALL.

Dates are so odd. I have a friend whose son died on the day mine was born and then my son died on her birthday. What is that all about? Well, yours died on my son's birthday so for some reason we are entangled. I'm sorry for your loss.Keep writing, we need to listen.
You possess the gift of expressing the feelings of so many… grateful for you.
